In order to turn a photo into a pencil sketch with AKVIS Sketch plugin follow the instruction:

  • Step 1. Open a picture in your photo editor.
    Photo of a car
  • Step 2. Call the plug-in AKVIS Sketch. For this purpose in Adobe Photoshop select the menu item Filter – AKVIS – Sketch; in Paint Shop Pro select the menu item Effects – Plugins - AKVIS – Sketch; in Corel PHOTO-PAINT - the menu item Effects – AKVIS – Sketch.
  • Step 3. Press the button Convert to start the conversion of the original photo into a pencil sketch with the default settings. It can be the settings of the AKVIS Default preset or the settings saved by the user as a preset.

The resulting pencil sketch will be shown in the After tab. Switch between the tabs with the Tab key. To compare the original and the resulting images you can just left-click on the image in the After tab.

  • Step 4. Adjust the parameters for the photo-to-sketch conversion.
  • Step 5. Press the button Convert to convert the original photo into a pencil drawing with the defined settings.

You can observe the processing in real-time. If you decide to change the settings, you can interrupt the process with a click on the Esc key. Adjust the settings and click on the green button again.

  • Step 6. If needed, adjust the settings on the Background and Canvas tabs. Click on the button Convert to start the processing.
Note: Every time you change the parameters you need to click on this button to process the image with the new settings.

  • Step 7. If you are not quite satisfied with the result, you can adjust the settings further and press the button Convert again.
  • Step 8. It is possible to save the settings you like as a preset and use them in the future.

To save a preset, enter a name for the preset into the Presets field and press the button Save.

Attention! The presets save only information about the settings in the Sketch and Canvas tabs.

Now, as you start the program, it will use the settings of this preset. If you change the values of the parameters, you can always come back to the default settings of the preset by pressing the button Reset.

To delete a preset, select it from the list and press Delete.

To process an image with the settings of a certain preset, you should select it from the fall-out menu and press the button Convert.

  • Step 9. When you are through with editing, press the button Apply to apply the resultto the picture and close the plugin window.
