Tutorial: AKVIS Chameleon

Ripe cherries

The example was made in the old version of the Chameleon plug-in.
Now the technique of using AKVIS Chameleon is different, but the result will be the same.

Consult the article "Blend mode" to get the same result with the new version. In the older versions (before v.5.0) this mode was called Snapshot and applied automatically right after you launch the plugin from the menu Filter.

We are going to create a greeting card with ripe cherries using the Snapshot mode of the AKVIS Chameleon plugin. In Snapshot mode, the program does not only smoothes the borders of the inserted object and adjusts its color range, but it also makes the object semi-transparent, so that the texture and the relief of the primary image can be seen through.

Step 1. Open a photo frame picture and a photo of cherries in your photo editor, in our case it is Adobe Photoshop. The photo frame has a texture as if it were covered with water drops.
Step 2. First we should select the cherries. The easiest way is to use the Quick Mask mode of Adobe Photoshop. In other photo editors you can use other selection tools.
Well, switch to the Quick Mask mode in the Toolbar and paint the vase with cherries using a hard-edged pencil.
Step 3. Switch back to the Standard mode and invert the selection by calling the command Select ->Inverse in the menu or by using the key combination Ctrl+Shift+I. Now the vase id selected.
Step 4. Copy the selected cherries by calling the command Edit -> Copy or by pressing the key combination Ctrl+C.
Step 5. Switch back to the photo frame, which will be the background for the vase with cherries, and take a snapshot of the image by selecting the command Filter - AKVIS - Chameleon (Take Snapshot).
Step 6. Paste the vase with cherries into the photo frame by selecting the command Edit - Paste or by pressing the hot key Ctrl+V.
Step 7. Change the size and position of the inserted object using the command Edit - Free Transform. Here you can find information about transformation and moving of inserted objects.
Step 8. Apply AKVIS Chameleon plugin by selecting the command Filter - AKVIS - Chameleon (Use Snapshot).

As a result we see the following greeting card with ripe cherries.
