Neon City: Glowing Effect on Video

See how to make a neon show using the AKVIS Neon Video plugin. The glowing lights create a special mood. An ordinary video turns into a stunning professional-level clip.

In this tutorial, we used Adobe Premiere Pro 2024 video editing software with the AKVIS Neon Video plugin. The plugin can be used with other compatible video editors.

How to create a glowing neon effect (video transcript):

It all starts with selecting the source videos and importing them into the project.

I picked up these clips. They are bright, colorful. Perfect for my purpose.

Create a sequence using the Ctrl+N combination or in the File menu. I choose the Full HD preset.

Expand the timeline so it's easier to edit.

Since we are editing clips, it makes sense to select music right away.

If you have no ideas, I recommend the free YouTube Library. There is a great choice there. And most importantly, no copyright issues.

Now that we have the music, let's start editing the video itself. Do as you like.

The clip is assembled. Now comes the fun part. Apply the AKVIS Neon Video plugin.

Let's take all our clips and duplicate them on the track above. To do this, select them, hold down Alt, and drag the cursor up.

Now, put the AKVIS Neon Video plugin on each of them and play with the presets. Although the shots are similar, each is special and needs something different: Some are better brighter, some restrained, and some are actually better with black and white.

Once you have decided on the presets, I recommend rendering the video for convenient work. The plugin is quite heavy so it will take time.

Add Cross Dissolve at the beginning of each processed shot. You can use Shift+D. It turns out that the processed shots slowly appears on top of the original.

Play with the length of Cross Dissolve to make the appearance look natural.

Make a catchy thumbnail and publish your video.

Let it be bright!
