The Gothic Style is an art movement that widespread in Europe during the Middle Ages. The term Gothic is most often associated with the architecture of the pointed arch and stained glass, rose windows and spires. Also, the term is used in relation to the Gothic novel that came to popularity at the end of the 18th century and titillated its readers with a suspenseful mixture of romanticism and horror. In the 1980s, the term Gothic began to refer to the musical genre that arose at that time and the subculture that formed around it.
