A child in the garden

When shooting on a sunny day with the wrong exposure settings or if the flash fails, you will notice sharp shadows on the face. The photo below has been taken with a side lighting, that’s why the face is in shadows.

We use the Enhancer plugin in this tutorial, but you can take the standalone edition and use the same parameters to achieve this result.

• Step 1. Open the image in your photo editor which supports the Enhancer plugin, for example AliveColors (or in the Enhancer program if you use the standalone edition).
  
• Step 2. To call the Enhancer plugin select the command Effects -> AKVIS -> Enhancer in AliveColors; the command Filter -> AKVIS -> Enhancer in Adobe Photoshop; the menu item Effects -> Plugins -> AKVIS -> Enhancer if you work with Corel PaintShop Pro.

  Select Improve Detail mode. The image will be processed with the default settings.

  
• Step 3. Our task is to reveal the child’s face which is cast in shadows due to unevenness of exposure. Adjust the settings to brighten the shadows in the image.
  
• Step 4. Apply the result of the photo correction and close the plugin.
