Tutorial: AKVIS ArtWork

Human Flower

The author of this tutorial is Nikolai Maiorov.

AKVIS ArtWork can imitate drawings made in pen and ink. This style produces graceful, airy images composed of object outlines. To unleash the full potential of this style, the author, who is a big fan of dance, chose a photo of six girls arranged in a pattern that takes on the form of a flower.

  • Step 2. Let's try to create a few drawings from this photograph, which differ in manner of execution. To do this, change the parameters of the lines, then view the changes in the preview window.

The settings chosen for the parameters are shown here:

Press to process the image. The result is similar to pencil sketches. A significant reduction in detail and line thickness produces a drawing effect of elegance and subtlety.

  • Step 3. By adjusting two parameters (Level of Detail and Sensitivity), it's possible to obtain an image similar to a sketch made in ink:

After processing the image by pressing , the photograph becomes a drawing with clean, crisp lines:

  • Step 4. By adding a canvas texture, you can obtain an image that resembles a soft charcoal sketch on rough paper. Adjust the canvas settings so that the texture's relief will be practically invisible. Adjusting Distortion will produce a line drawing with the necessary looseness and density.
