Creating new light effects

Watch a flash-movie to see how to create a new light effect Click here! (flash-movie, 2.89 Mb)

Light Effect is made up of simple elements (primitives). To create a light effect you should combine a number of elements and adjust parameters for each of them (or for a group of elements).

Follow the instruction to create a light effect.

  • Step 1. Press the button New Preset in the Presets tab. As a result the Effect Settings panel with an empty elements tree will open.
  • Step 2. Press the button New element and select the first element for your light effect from the list of primitives. The thumbnail of the added element will appear in the Preview Window on the right of the elements tree.
  • Step 3. Adjust the element's parameters (color, size, opacity, etc). The changes are displayed in real time in the Preview Window.
  • Step 4. Set modifiers for the element (Whirlpool, Star, Flower, Fractal, etc.) and adjust their parameters. The changes are displayed in real time in the Preview Window.
  • Step 5. Repeat steps 2-4 until you have enough elements for you light effect.

    As you create your light effect, you can change the order of elements in the tree and change their parameters. Besides, it is possible to group elements and set parameters and modifiers for the whole group. To create a group of elements press the button New group and add elements to the group.

    To remove an element (group of elements) select the required element (group) in the tree and press the button Remove.

  • Step 6. To see the light effect in the Image Window, press the button Go. In the Image Window only active elements are shown (the elements with enabled check-boxes).

    If the check-box near the element is disabled, the element will not appear in the light effect.

  • Step 7. Save the new effect by pressing the button Save as. Thus you will be able to use this preset in the future, either as it is or for creation of new effects.

    In the dialog box Save as you should specify the following:

    • Name – the name of the file and the name of the preset in the presets list;
    • Comment - additional information about the light effect (optional). If you don't add this information, the light effect will have a default comment.
