Tutorial: AKVIS Coloriage

Colorize a family portrait

You can colorize this photo yourself using the half-finished materials that we give you. Download an archive containing the original image and the file with the strokes (*.strokes). Read the instruction here to see how AKVIS Coloriage works.

The following photo has been submitted by Chuck Croom. Actually, it came in poor condition (it was all covered with scratches and color stains, besides it had a bluish tint). That's why, first of all, we retouched it with the plug-ins AKVIS Retoucher, AKVIS MultiBrush and the Adobe Photoshop tools.

Let's colorize it:

  • Step 1. Open the photo in your photo editor.
  • the black and white family portrait retouched with the plug-ins AKVIS Retoucher, AKVIS Stamp and the Adobe Photoshop tools
  • Step 2. Call the AKVIS Coloriage plug-in. For this purpose in Adobe Photoshop or in Adobe Photoshop Elements select the menu item Filter – AKVIS – Coloriage; and in Corel PHOTO-PAINT select the menu item Effects – AKVIS – Coloriage.
  • Step 3. Set a color for every object on the photo. Select a color from the Colors palette or from the Color library, draw an outline within the object and draw some lines inside the object.
Use Pencil to set a color for the object
  • Step 4. Start the colorization process by pressing the button Colorize. The result will be shown in the After tab.
