AKVIS Retoucher has a multitude of uses. It can restore old damaged photographs from family archives by removing dust, scratches, stains, and by reconstructing the missing parts of a photo automatically. It can also be used to improve the composition of a photo by removing unnecessary details and even large objects that spoil the composition of a photo.
Defects and details are removed automatically, just select them and run the program. The wide variety of capabilities are demonstrated at the Examples page.
The software can also reconstruct the missing parts of a photo using information from the surrounding areas. So you can restore a photo that has been torn or has some missing parts.
AKVIS Retoucher is a handy tool for improving the composition of your photos. You can remove date stamps, logos, small irrelevant details (wires, refuse bins, etc). If you need to increase the canvas size (from one side or proportionally) to bring the main object into focus, AKVIS Retoucher will help you to fill the blank areas of the canvas with appropriate image textures.
Retoucher offers tools to remove even large objects. If for smaller details, it is enough to select the object you want to remove and run the program, for larger and complex objects (people, cars, buildings) you may need to give the program a hint where it should take textures from to fill in the area. It can be made with the new Linear Retouch and Patch tools.
First time you open the program it works in the Express mode. In this mode only the necessary tools are shown, so that one does not get lost in the parameters and still can get a good result. It is possible to switch to the Advanced mode anytime to have all available parameters at hand.
Those using the Home Deluxe and Business have the opportunity to perform post-processing with the tools Clone Stamp and Chameleon Brush.
Version 4.5 adds a new features to the Clone Stamp tool. Now it's possible to mirror a clone horizontally and vertically. It's useful for when you need to add a mirror of the restored object to water, glass, or other reflective surfaces.
Also new to version 4.5, a Portuguese translation has been added for the help files as well as for Retoucher's interface.
The program is available in plugin and standalone versions.
